Frequently Asked Kitchen Questions

Quick answers to common inquiries from our home cooking community.

Can I double or halve your slow cooker recipes?

Most of our dishes are developed for standard 6-quart oval slow cookers. You can safely halve recipes if using a 3-to-4 quart cooker. When doubling, ensure the stoneware vessel is never filled past 2/3 to 3/4 capacity to allow proper steam convection and even thermal diffusion.

Can I place frozen chicken directly into the slow cooker?

In full alignment with official USDA Food Safety guidelines, we strictly recommend thawing all poultry completely in the refrigerator before placing it into the slow cooker. Slow cookers heat up gradually, and frozen meat spends too long in the bacterial "danger zone" (40°F–140°F) before reaching safe internal temperatures.

Do you accept paid sponsored ingredients or cookware reviews?

No. As formalized in our Hearth Editorial Charter, The Recipe Lot is 100% independent. We do not accept free cookware, gifted ingredients, or commercial sponsorships. Every recommendation is chosen autonomously.
